So Ruth one of the organizers of the program I am here in Europe with, lives on a farm not far from where I live. She has invited me over twice to visit with her family and allow me to get out of my apartment for a while. The first time I was there was about two weeks ago and we went for a bike ride to her apple orchard and after went to a park and played with her kids for the afternoon. Yesturday, again, I visited Ruth and her family. This time we baked muffins and cakes and then she offered me to clean one of the horses. The family has two horses both extreamly large, and had been walking around in the extreamly muddy yard for about a week so cleaning this horse took quite a bit of time. Also Ruth tought me how to clean the hoofs of the horse (no easy task) and afterward as a reward for cleaning the horse I got to ride it around for a bit in the yard. I was going bareback which was a tad intimidating because of how high up I was ontop of this horse. (Also I thankfully had borrowed farm pants earlier which saved me from ruining my jeans). It was so great and hopfully once I get a bit more practise I can go off the farm yard and later trot and gallop and so forth but I obviously have to learn how to ride properly first. Anyway all of this is very exciting and fun and best of all it gives me something to do outside of work.

Jesus and the Black Forest

Hello all!
So not a whole lot of updates to give, Im still working in a kitchen, living with some cool people, and still waiting not so patiently for spring.
However two things that are fun include going to a german evangelical church and going snowboarding. For those of you who dont know what an evangelical church is, its the kind of church you see on tv sunday afternoon with the really really intense pastors! I went with a roommate of mine to Stuttgart last weekend cause there was a youth event at the church that she wanted to go to but understandably didnt want to go alone. Despite the german sermon half way through the night there was some sweet german hiphop, breakdancing and beatboxing to watch and listen to. We slept over at her aunts house later that night and in the morning (sunday morning) I got the privalige to go to church. This evangelical experience was everything I wanted it to be with random shouting, the preacher breaking into song at the end of his sermon, sing-praying (when someone is singing and then sneaks in a prayer or vice-versa), women shaking their legs and raising their hands to the sky, alter calls... it had it all. I was fully satisfied with my first evangelical church experience however I am also very positive it will be my last experience with it as well (its a tad overwhelming to say the least).
My second fun thing, includes going snowboarding yesturday. I has gone once before to the same place south in the Black Forest, but the first time I went wasnt that amazing and we (I went with a co-worker) spent most of the day on the north side of the mountian where the runs are shorter). This time however the day was amazing, it was sunny all day (which ended in a very bad sunglasses tan) , the weather was beautiful and the gear I rented was a perfect fit. I plugged in my ipod and hit the slopes and had so much fun. Although after about an hour or so most of the fresh snow on the main runs was gone, if you looked for it, you could find plenty of powder on other hills and in the glades. It was such a great day and it was so nice to be outside the whole day and not have to stay inside a kitchen! On top of it all because we went on a Friday the mountain wasnt as busy! SO GREAT!
Anyway that is a little news about whats going on over here! I hope all is well back home!
Lots of hugs and kisses from Germany!
Today: sleep in, work, pumpkin pie
